The business started in 1977 by my dad, Don Hanks and his business was called Don Hanks Construction. He started out with just a grader, he owned half of it with Barker Construction, 6 months later he bought out his half and went out on his own. Don started with just grading township roads and snow plowing. Then the business grew bigger purchasing excavation equipment. He did demolition of buildings, digging basements, house prep, then onto tiling for farmers. He had 44 years of owning his own business and 52 years total experience in the excavation field. Then, in 1997 while in high school, Darin Hanks, Don's son started working with him after school and on weekends. After high school Darin worked full-time learning beside his dad. 24 years of working and learning the family business, Don and Darin decided it was time for Don to retire and Darin to continue the legacy of the business. In April of 2021, Darin Hanks became the sole owner of the new business and changed the name to Darin Hanks Trucking & Excavating, LLC.
